What happens on Girls Night

Every Gifted Girls group has 3 main elements; skills, truth and relationships. Gifted Girls is an an hour and a half and can be run on with whatever frequency suits your group.

Learn A Skill

Womanhood requires many skills. Vast in their breadth. Each woman has abilities that girls need to grow in. Some skill lessons might take a night, some may need repetition to gain mastery.  Additionally, your group could plan for another non-group member to teach the skill, grandparents, seniors, teens. Older girls can assist younger. A gifted girl isn't born, she's taught. Teach, practice, repeat.
List of a few skills

Teach Truth

Time to learn not just from sitting quietly but to let girls talk it out. Take the time to talk through something you are learning from or about God. Teach from passion. Recount your challenges. God teaches us through life. What truth do your girls need to know? Talk about real truth with the next generation. Time to discuss, ask questions, challenge the world's thinking.
See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you

Jesus taught with stories, also know as parables. Making the unseen principle seen. Of course we can do that too.

You reap what you sew is a gardening principle, more modernly stated, what you plant you will harvest. This has great relevance to kids. For example, what kinds of words do you want to "harvest" from your siblings? What should you plant? How do you want others to treat you? What should you plant? Teaching this along side of teaching them to garden makes sense and will be a reminder as they see their garden grow for years to come.

The best teaching comes from what God has taught you and how he has changed you. Your testimony isn't just when you came to faith but the movement of God in your life. How has he shown himself strong on your behalf. Teach what you have learned.

Jesus taught while doing things. What in the skill you're teaching reminds you of great truths of life or scripture. Make truth relevant and they will remember when they practice the skills you're teaching. You don't have to have everyone sit in a circle to learn. Teach truth and skills together.

Don't feel comfortable teaching?

Jesus taught men who taught others. Use a book., which is like having the author teach your group.  You could also invite someone you know to come and teach. Involve grandparents, seniors, teens and older siblings in your group by allowing them to teach their skills or what God has been teaching them.

Strengthening Relationships

Just being, doing, together.  I love my friends! Girls will have time to play together in a group activity. Younger girls might want to play house or other imaginative role play. Maybe a set of toys will be taken out to create a story. Girls love to play and talk, and talk and play. Play should be guided to one particular activity so the girls develop relationship through shared experience and don't deviate to individual play.

Why Gifted Girls?

There are many programs for girls. Many are led by moms, though each mom is not usually a leader. Often moms end up being the ride, the fundraiser, but not the teacher. Moms and daughters want to connect. We're relational. We want to have strong friendships. We want to talk out the things we are learning and struggling with.

Gifted Girls is different by being a strengthening place for women and for girls. Women are strengthened through by their friendships and by leading. Hearing what God wants them to invest in their girls and teaching them. The girls also grow in their friendships and learn the skills they will need to be capable women.

We strengthen our daughters when we teach them to do new things. Confidence grows with the ability to do more. Then they can learn to do it even better.  They won't pick up what you know by watching, they need to be taught and try it. Get their hands dirty with their girl friends. Laugh. Make mistakes. Be with you!

Gifted Girls pairs the development of skills and faith. Girls need more than just mom teaching them the truth, a network of women echoing the same truth they hear at home. The best teachers are passionate about what they teach. You aren't committing to a book or a program, but to living out your faith authentically in community.

How is StRong G4Says different from other programs available for girls?

Strong G4 is:
  • Taught only by parents (or an adult, senior or teen known to a parent)
  • Safe for kids because their parents are there
  • Validating to children's faith when truth is reiterated from both their parents and trustworthy adults outside their family
  • About building skills life skills that education often overlooks
  • About linking faith to practical skills using object lessons
  • Intentional to create relationships through doing things together as well as allowing time to talk
  • A place to strengthen both parents and kids
Strong G4says isn't:
  • A drop off program
  • Just for some ages - older kids strengthen younger kids, not bully them
  • Cost prohibitive - low costs allow any group or church to participate
  • A group where you will spend any time doing paperwork or fundraising
  • Lacking in volunteers - each parent contributes in turn but the group maintains a high ratio adults to kids as the parents are present every time
